The coaching approach
Faith belongs in the conversation—not in place of the work.
01
Name the real question
Move beyond the presenting problem to clarify the decision, tension, or pattern underneath it.
02
Examine it from every angle
Explore evidence, emotions, relationships, values, and faith without rushing toward a tidy answer.
03
Choose accountable action
Turn insight into a specific next step, with enough structure to learn and adjust as you move.
A good-fit coach should
Respect both your beliefs and your agency.
✓
Welcome faith honestly
Your spiritual framework can be discussed directly, without awkwardness or apology.
✓
Avoid spiritual shortcuts
Difficult emotions and complex tradeoffs are explored, not dismissed with a quick answer.
✓
Keep clear boundaries
Coaching, consulting, pastoral care, and therapy are distinct—and referred appropriately.
✓
Stay focused on action
Reflection serves a real goal, and each conversation creates a useful path forward.
Common questions
Before you choose a faith-informed coach.
Straight answers about fit, boundaries, and what this work is designed to do.
What is faith-informed coaching?
Faith-informed coaching is a goal-oriented coaching relationship where your beliefs, spiritual practices, and sense of calling are welcome in the conversation. It is not pastoral counseling, therapy, or a substitute for professional mental-health care.
Do I need to be part of a particular denomination?
No. The work begins with your convictions and context. Coaching is thoughtful and non-prescriptive: faith is never used to force an answer or bypass a difficult question.
Who is this coaching best suited for?
This work is designed for leaders, founders, and experienced professionals navigating growth, transition, difficult decisions, team dynamics, or a desire for greater alignment between work and faith.
What happens in a free fit call?
We spend 30 minutes clarifying what you want to change, what has made it difficult, and whether Ivan’s experience and approach fit your needs. There is no pressure to continue.
How is coaching different from consulting or spiritual direction?
Consulting usually delivers expert recommendations. Spiritual direction centers your relationship with God. Coaching helps you think clearly, identify choices, and take accountable action; a faith-informed approach can respectfully draw on your spiritual framework while keeping those roles distinct.
A low-pressure first step
Bring one real question.
In a free 30-minute fit call, we’ll clarify what you want to change, what has kept it stuck, and whether coaching together makes sense.
